Anthropology students at the University of Kentucky have organized the first meeting of a new conference: Bluegrass Annual Discussions on Anthropology and Social Sciences. The conference will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Lafferty Hall room 201c. Thanks to our sponsors (CRAI, Waypoint LLC, and BADASS Coffee), registration is free and lunch and coffee will be provided. Click here for the program; it features fourteen 15-minute presentations, a cultural heritage roundtable, posters, and a keynote lecture by Dr. Geoff McCafferty, titled "The Cholulteca, Chorotega, and Me: Archaeological Perspectives on Cultural Resilience in Ancient Mesoamerica."
The topic of the meeting is Resilience. For the last few years, Resilience has been what carried us through, gave us strength to face the challenges of the world, but also reminded us about the importance of balance and taking it one step at a time. The theme of Resilience can be found throughout the social sciences, which is why we invite you to share your work with us! If you are a student in the field of anthropology, archaeology, history, classics, linguistics, sociology, geography, and other related fields where humans are central to the study, and you have found Resilience weaving through your work – we would be happy to see you present at our conference.
