
Nicole Marks has experience in emergency and disaster management at the local and state level as well as experience with non-governmental organizations and the private sector with a previous professional background in New York State. Nicole found her passion for disasters while serving three terms with AmeriCorps (State and National/NPRC) working at the American Red Cross in Greater New York. Now working to achieve a PhD focusing on disaster anthropology and climate ethnography Nicole is interested in exploring the intersection of people and disasters.
Nicole obtained (in 2015) and maintains the designation of Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers, as well as certification through FEMA as a Master Exercise Practitioner, Basic Instructor, and Master Continuity Practitioner.
