Nicole Marks
Graduate Research Assistant
Nicole Marks has experience in emergency and disaster management at the local and state level as well as experience with non-governmental organizations and the private sector with a previous professional background in New York State. Nicole found her passion for disasters while serving three terms with AmeriCorps (State and National/NPRC) working at the American Red Cross in Greater New York. Now working to achieve a PhD with a focus on disaster anthropology and climate ethnography Nicole is interested in exploring the intersection of people and disasters.

Education
Nicole was a 2009 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Nicole went on to earn a Master of Science in Protection Management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2010, double concentrating in both Emergency Management and Security Management. Additionally, she earned a Master of Public Administration in Disaster and Emergency Management from Metropolitan College of New York. Nicole has returned to school, attending UK to achieve a PhD in Anthropology.
Nicole obtained the designation as a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers in 2015, as well as certification through FEMA as a Master Exercise Practitioner, Basic Instructor, and Master Continuity Practitioner.
