Refah Tamanna

I am a doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Kentucky, specializing in medical anthropology. My doctoral research examines how people living with persistent Lyme disease symptoms in Rhode Island navigate illness care under conditions of medical uncertainty. Prior to my doctoral training, I worked at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b). There I contributed to infectious disease and global health research, including tuberculosis treatment adherence, operational research on drug-resistant TB regimens, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). My broader interests include the anthropology of biomedicine, the anthropology of care, feminist anthropology, and ethnographic approaches to chronic and contested illness.
